Abstract

ABSTRAK Kebiasaan mengisap ibu jari merupakan masalah dimana tahap perkembangan khususnya fase oral yg tidak sempurna yang bisa menyebabkan kerusakan pada gigi, kebiasaan ini sering pada anak-anak dan ini behubungan dengan pengetahuan dan pendidikan ibu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan karakteristik dan pengetahuan ibu dengan kebiasaan mengisap ibu jari pada anak prasekolah di Kelurahan Jatikramat Bekasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif korelatif, menggunakan desain cross-sectional. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 155 responden. Hasil analisa univariat menunjukkan bahwa usia ibu dewasa tengah (30-39 th) berjumlah 86 responden (55,5%), pendidikan SMA-PT berjumlah 125 responden (80,6%), bekerja berjumlah 92 responden (59,4%), pengalaman pengasuhan anak berjumlah 86 responden (55,5%), budaya jawa berjumlah 75 responden (48,4%), pengetahuan baik berjumlah 79 responden (51,0%), kebiasaan mengisap berjumlah 86 responden (55,5%). Hasil analisa bivariat menggunakan uji Chi-Square dengan ketentuan bermakna jika p value < 0,05 menunjukkan bahwa adanya hubungan antara kebiasaan mengisap ibu jari di Kelurahan Jatikramat antara lain pendidikan p value 0,000, pekerjaan p value 0,02 dan pengetahuan p value 0,000, sedangkan yang tidak berhubungan dengan kebiasaan mengisap ibu jari usia p value 0,251 pengalaman pengasuhan anak p value 0,819, budaya p value 0,888. Karakteristik dan pengetahuan ibu dipengaruhi pendidikan, pekerjaan serta pengetahuan itu sendiri sehingga untuk menghindari kebiasaan mengisap ibu jari perlu mengoptimalkan perhatian pada fase tumbuh kembang. Abstract The habit of sucking thumbs can be a problem for children during their growth period, specifically with the imperfect of oral phase since the imperfect of oral phase can damage their teeth. This habit is usually encountered to the children, and it is allegedly related to the mother’s knowledge and education. This research was intended to find out the relationship between the mother’s characteristics and knowledge to the habit of sucking their thumbs, especially parents in Jatikramat Village, Bekasi. This research used quantitative method with descriptivecorrelative approach and cross-sectional design. Number of sample in this research was 155 respondents. The results of this research are as follows: the p_value based on age is 0.251 (which is higher than 0.05), the p_value based on education is 0.000 (which is lower than 0.05), the p_value based on occupation is 0.020, the p_value based on parenting experience is 0.819, the p_value based on the cultural habit is 0.888 and the p_value based on the knowledge is 0.000. These results show that there are significant relationship between education, occupation, and knowledge to the children’s habit sucking their thumbs, and there are no significant relationship between age, cultural habit and parenting experience to the children’s habit sucking their thumbs. This research shows that it is highly required for a mother to gain good knowledge and behavior, in order to resolve the children’s habit sucking their thumbs.
